Top all-time posts for this blog

Every once in a while I dig through Google Analytics to see what trends are going on with this blog. And since I started it in January of 2009, the top posts have changed significantly along the way.

Top 10 all-time posts (in terms of traffic):

#1 – Evernote vs. Instapaper (Jan 2011) – This post counts for a whopping 4% of my traffic ALL TIME. That’s crazy, especially when you look at the post. It’s not really even a post but rather a link over to a Quora question I answered. But it does have one of the only custom images I created.

#2 – 12 Characteristics of a Great Place to Work (Sept 2011) – This was one of my first blindposts, and it was so early that I didn’t even call it a blindpost back then.

#3 – iPhone apps I loved in 2010 (Jan 2011) – The only apps I still use that I listed here are Evernote (my digital brain) and Hootsuite (my Twitter client of choice).

#4 – 4 Points of view on creating a performance based culture (Dec 2009) – Interestingly this is another Quora-connected post…

#5 – Why use TripIt? (May 2010) – What’s funny about this one is that I don’t even use TripIt. This entire post is me asking a friend why he uses it.

#6 – Awkward and funny introductions (March 2011) – Such a silly little post. What’s funnier is that “funny introductions” is the #1 search term that leads people to my blog (to this post obviously). And I’m sure all of those people are wildly disappointed when they find this blog. “Evernote vs. Instapaper” is the second most searched term that leads to this site.

#7 – Why I use WordPress, Tumblr, Instagram and Foursquare (Oct 2011) – I only use WordPress and Instagram today.

#8 – The man in the arena (Sept 2011) – One of my favorite mantras.

#9 – How and why I use Instapaper (July 2011) – I don’t even use Instapaper today. I’ve started using Pocket, but we’ll see if I keep that up.

#10 – Why I will never have my own office again (May 2010) – Possibly my favorite post ever. I’m going to be sad when it gets bumped from the top 10.

If I just look at the past year, these are the ones that jump into the mix:

#5 – I finally figured out my plan for email, to-do’s, note-taking and the cloud (April 2012)

#8 – iCloud sucks literally (Jan 2012)

#9 – My visit to Facebook HQ (Nov 2010)

#10 – The importance of confidence and four keys to getting it (July 2011)

I love going back and seeing what posts were the most popular! Love, love, love Google Analytics! Will have to go back and read some of your posts that I might have missed. ;)

I know, its fun to do that. But don’t read many of those posts, as I said, they aren’t my best work they just someone caught some energy on the google train and drove people to the site ;)
