Twitter is what it is

I was passed this article by @gumboshowjoe entitled, “Witnessing half a decade on Twitter“. In it, Owyang discusses the past five years on Twitter and where he thinks the platform is going.

My general assessment of Twitter at this point is, it is what it is.  Meaning, I don’t think its going to go away but I also don’t think its going to do much more.  It’ll be integrated a little more, but it won’t be bigger than sms for teens, won’t be bigger than Facebook for most of the US/world, won’t be bigger than email for the working person…it’ll be a nice tool for specific people and specific reasons (news, etc.).

It’s a huge success and it changed the world. Not trying to minimize it by any means.

I just think, it is what it is.
