Getting my learn on, Forrester style
This morning I’m in San Francisco to do some serious learning. I’m only here for a day and a half, a short trip for such a long flight, but this particular conference promises to be worth it. I am going to hang out with local badass and friend @marksilva tonight for dinner so at least I’ll get “out” for a few hours.
I’m here for the Forrester Marketing Forum 2011 conference. They describe the conference as:
Forrester’s Marketing Forum 2011 will explore how you can create marketing programs that harness the power of emerging tools, adapt to new models for engaging your customers, and manage through the disruption. The Forum will explore not only the key customer trends across four disruptive technologies — mobile, social, cloud, and video — but also how technology can help you plan, manage, deliver, and measure synchronized marketing initiatives in this more complicated, multichannel environment.
Yep, I need me some of that.
To kick off the conference, they released a study in Advertising Age that talks about the future of interactive, in particular making the point that, “the next digital decade challenges the model of interactive marketing that most organizations have developed.” You should check this study out, it has some really interesting research on the lack of interactive resources most companies have and the implications that will follow.
Alright, I’m off to the first session. Time to shake off the jet lag, jam some coffee down my throat and get some of that there educatin’.
