Yep, I’m still just using the iPad as a laptop replacement…
To recap from previous posts: For about a month I’ve only used an iPad 2 and a keyboard case as an experiment to see if the iPad Pro (which comes out in November) would make sense for me as a laptop replacement.
The verdict: yes, the iPad Pro will be what I use instead of a laptop.
I came to this realization when I was asked the other day if I could give my laptop to a new employee we are hiring at Dragon Army. And the answer surprised me: Yes! I am totally fine giving up my laptop at this point. I literally haven’t opened it in a month.
If I actually made stuff – if I wrote code, or worked in Photoshop, or created complex Keynote presentations, etc. – then I probably couldn’t make the switch. But for my main uses of a laptop – email, web, google docs & sheets, Evernote – the iPad and keyboard case get the job done easily.
And it has a better battery life than any laptop. And it’s always connected to the Internet (LTE). And I can touch the screen, which you might think is unecessary but is helpful at times.
And with the stylus that comes with it, I’m excited to try taking notes on the iPad Pro in meetings. Right now I bring a small paper notebook with me to meetings because I don’t like to type when meeting with people.
So that’s it, I’ll probably not blog on this topic until I get the iPad Pro, but enough people have asked me recently if I’m still iPadding it up, so I thought it best to do one last update.
Fanboy. ;)
