Two mac apps I’m loving

I’m always interested in what software and apps people use, which is why I try to share what I’m using.  I typically do a recap of the apps I loved for the iPhone or iPad at the end of each year, but there are two Mac apps that I’m really finding helpful that I thought I’d share. Oh, and both are free ;)

Clean My Mac: It does exactly what you might expect, goes through your Mac for those pesky files that seem to linger around forever. I’ve found a ton of free space from using this app. It will comb through your file system and find install files, cleans your cache, useless log files, and even remove all the foreign languages that Mac’s have built in. It’s great.

Smart Converter: This app I really love. It allows you to pick any video you have and select the OS you want to convert it for (AppleTV, Sony PS3, XBOX 360, iPad, iPhone, etc). The ability to select the OS instead of guessing which type of file the XBOX uses for instance, is huge. Since I’m someone that  has a lot of devices and watches a fair amount of video, this app is killer.

Clean My Mac has been single handedly saving my hard drive for the past 6 months. Fantastic app!

If you’re short on space, I recommend Spacie. It will run you about $5 in the app store, but it tells you specifically what folders and files are eating up your HD space. I learned I was losing almost 20GB of space storing probably every one of my iPhone backups from the past 3 years.
