Sticking with a blog
I’ll be honest, lately it has been really hard to find time to post on this blog. Between running Dragon Army, helping with the various non-profit initiatives I’m involved in, and spending quality time with my family, writing blog posts has taken a distant back seat.
So why keep it up? I think this is a question that many bloggers ask themselves from time to time. Each of us has our own motivation and reasons for blogging.
I was reminded twice in the last week of one of the reasons I am motivated to keep it up. In two separate meetings with friends, they mentioned a blog post I had written a while back that really resonated with them, and shared how the post helped them work through something they were struggling with.
That made me think about all the posts I’ve read over the years from others that have helped me with various points in my life, and I realized that if I’m going to keep reading other bloggers and learning from their experiences, then I should keep sharing my experiences and contribute what I can.
There are many other reasons I enjoy blogging – it forces me to actually “think”, it can be therapeutic, you can share things that are important to you, etc. – but at the very least, if a post I write helps a friend come to a helpful decision in their life, then its all worth it.
I can’t tell you how many times I have referred to your blog. Thank you for keeping it up!
I really enjoy the blog. I never delete the emails from when you post and always try to read each entry. I really enjoy a look into your life and apply some of the stuff in my daily stuff and suggest different things to Priscilla and her business. I’d miss it if it didn’t continue. I don’t always comment but I do always read.
Thanks, Ray, appreciate that. One thing I’m working on is embedding a survey into a blog post so that I can ask people what kinds of things they’d like me to focus on. I can alway use help on that side of things.
Thanks!
Speaking of posts that readers resonate with, this one resonates with me as a blogger!
Keep it going, Jeff, and thanks for sharing!
