What kind of company is Dragon Army?

Ice skates…for the phrase I coin in this post, and because I needed a photo ;)

I have to say, I’m having more fun at Dragon Army than I ever did at Spunlogic or Engauge. That’s not to disparage either of those businesses, I love them both (well, Spun more but who’s keeping score…I guess I am :) And God willing, we’ll have similar success at Dragon Army as we did at those two companies. But the difference with Dragon Army is that we’re a multi-faceted business, and we’re more product and creative focused. And that’s just more fun.

Dragon Army started in August of 2013 as a mobile app and game studio, building our own products in the mobile space and launching them direct to consumer. For the last year and a half, we’ve been building a mobile agency side of Dragon Army, creating (remarkable) mobile products and experiences for businesses. Today, we have two sides of the business: the agency (working for clients) and the studio (building our own mobile products.)

And that’s a huge difference over Spunlogic and Engauge. We never built our own products, and we rarely built “products” for clients. It was usually services, such as social media, building websites, email marketing, etc. Creating and launching things into the world is very exciting.

Having the studio side of Dragon Army allows us to be as innovative as a mobile-oriented agency needs to be. It’s my belief that if your only source of innovation comes when a client is paying for it, you’ll never be skating to where the puck is going (to coin a phrase.) By building and launching our own mobile apps and games, we understand so much more about the mobile ecosystem than if we were only producing client work.
