Live your life through the front window, not the rear view

I have the worst memory. Anyone that knows me well enough can attest to that. For some reason, conjuring up memories from the past is something I’ve struggled with for…well, as long as I can remember ;)

I’ve thought for a while that one of the main reasons I struggle with this is because I’m so focused on the present and the future. Sitting around and talking about things that happened before always seems to be a distant second to talking about all the potential that lies ahead. It can be frustrating to those around me, mainly my wife who at the end of a vacation wants to reminisce and I’m always trying to figure out when our next adventure is going to take place.

I was reminded of this when I was recently listening to Colin Cowherd on ESPN. Colin has a radio show called, The Herd, and to me he’s one of the best. His show has a philosophy – Live your life through the front window, not the rear view.

I love that expression. Much better than, You’re either the bug or the windshield. It would probably suck to be the windshield too, with bug guts all over you. But I digress.
