Edinburgh Update #2

We’re now two weeks into our month-long stay in Edinburgh, Scotland. I’m not sure we could have picked a better place to take our family. We have LOVED every minute!

Oh, why are we doing this? Here’s why.

My wife has posted twice about our trip, if you wanted to follow along: Part 1 and Part 2. She captured some great shots of all the things we’ve been up to.

Since she has done such a great job, I thought I’d just highlight a few things.

I’ve said it before, but Google Photos is phenomenal. For so many reasons I find it to be the best cloud photo storage option available, and here’s a case in point. Google will make these short little videos fairly frequently, and it put together this 18-second one of our trip to Inchcolm Island:

I’ve been writing for my book (you’ve subscribed to get updates, right?) every day, and occasionally I try to make my way to a coffee shop in the early mornings to get some writing done. This week I took my 11-year old and we went to The Elephant House, where J.K. Rowling famously wrote some of her Harry Potter books. This is one of the spots she would sit at to write, so my son, who is reading the 7th Harry Potter book, read while I wrote. I thought it would be cool to write some of my book where she wrote HP :)

And lastly, there are so many beautiful scenes in Edinburgh. On one of my morning runs, I made my way to Dean Village and snapped this shot. I could have stayed there all day.

Next week we are taking a short trip with the kids to Paris, and the final week of our stay we’ll be doing a trip to the Highlands to see a bunch of castles and Loch Ness. We may never come back ;) #kiddingnotkidding
