Dragon Army’s Core Tenets

(photo: me giving a talk at our company meeting last month on the rooftop of our new office…which we haven’t moved into yet…which is driving me/us crazy…but we’re making the most of it)

At Dragon Army, we’re very specific about why we exist (our Purpose), what we aspire to be as a company (our Vision), how we’re going to achieve our Vision (our Tenets), and the Values that will guide us along the journey.

I’ve shared our Purpose and Vision before, but I’ve never broken down our Tenets and their importance (at least, not on this blog.)

As a refresher, our Purpose is to Inspire Happiness through Positive Relationships, Impactful Work, and Doing Good. That’s our reason for being; our WHY, if you will.

Our Values are Team First, Think Positively, Celebrate Diversity, Do Good, and Have Fun.

Our Vision is to be sought after by the world’s best companies for our creative problem solving. Currently, we do this through web, mobile, and innovation.

HOW we reach our Vision is broken down in our three Tenets:

#1 – Attracting and Retaining Exceptional People

Without a doubt, our greatest strength is our team members. We cherish everyone at Dragon Army and work hard to make sure they are fulfilled and growing every day. We value culture-fit far more than work experience and skills, so we work hard to make sure everyone joining our team will be a champion for our Values.

#2 – Building Remarkable Products and Experiences

We are a group of natural problem-solvers, and the end result of our unique approach is innovative products and experiences that we build for our clients. We strive to make the work we create ‘remarkable’ – to surprise and delight the end-user, and provide value to their lives.

#3 – Striving for Operational Excellence

In order to accomplish our Vision, we not only must have a great team and build great products, but we have to run our business responsibly. Our approach to operations and finance involves “open-book management” – every employee has live access to our current finances and are able to contribute ideas to how we operate the business. We believe that ideas can come from anyone in the company and the more access they have to our information, the better their recommendations will be.

The point is, if we focus on those three things – taking care of our people, building awesome stuff, and running our company with sound financial and operational rigor – we have a chance to be the company we want to be. It’s really that simple.

And there is strength and power in that kind of clarity.
