6 minutes on how I get stuff done

I’ve recorded a few things over the last month, mostly because I’m interested in experimenting with the medium (not podcasting, per se, but more like audio blogging…if that’s a thing) and its fun to just ramble sometimes.

In this case, I talk about how I get things done. I get asked “how do you do all of that?” more than anything else, and particularly after my Things I Want to Accomplish in 2018 post. Truth be told, I don’t “do” any more than anyone else, I just focus hard on a few things and put all my effort into them, as efficiently as I possibly can.

Here is six minutes on how I view productivity and getting things done (which I recorded on one of Atlanta’s recent “snow” days, when I was land-locked to my home office):

vlogging is definitely a thing… not so sure about auggling….

You’d probably get a big audience gain from youtube’s algorithm! something to think about!

i’ve put three videos up this so far this year and here’s a glimpse at the numbers: https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/b6f8b494daa2015d4980a5b96f78dbba8701fd144244675dc0cbd7c98ec4178a.png

I’m cheating a little cuz one video is a giveaway, but I think that’s only driving subscribers up, not the actual watch time or views… (a big portion of the subs are fake and/or only interested in the giveaway and not the content)

Yep, that’s impressive! So your suggestion would be, the next time I want to do “audio” blogging, I should just do a video on youtube and see how it performs?

yeah… but make sure you do some basic SEO tactics (good keywords in title, good description, and good tags) so your videos get found. Then you can of course embed the video in your blog too. But youtube has a ravenous audience for wisdom so I think you’ll do well!

Curious how you think about your blog in the construct of getting things done. Is it one of those things that falls outside of your 5 main priorities that you just get to when you have the time? Or is it a tool that facilitates you focusing on your main priorities?

Great question, Kenji. My blog has become part of my natural rhythm, sort of like brushing my teeth. Every week day (Monday through Friday) I want to post something, and I just make sure to have time for it.

If I leave the house and have posted a blog post and I’m at near inbox zero, I feel energized and ready to kick ass ;)
