Meet Amy Ingram

Amy Ingram is my assistant. She schedules my meetings and reminds me about appointments I have. She’s virtual, so I send her emails with changes I want and she makes them, and I can tell her dates and times and locations that generally work for me to meet with people.

She’s responsive and polite, and she works at any time of day that I want her to. She’ll work with other people’s assistants and she can pull together a large group for a meeting.

And, most impressively, she’s a robot.

Amy Ingram (or Andrew if you wish) is part of x.ai, an artificial intelligence personal assistance startup. Check it out:

I’ve been using Amy for several months now and its an incredible service. Only a few hiccups along the way, and every time she gets the job done. And even though I try to be open that she’s a robot, I’d say 1/3 of the people I use her with think she’s a real person.

The concept of artificial intelligence may scare you a little, but after using x.ai, I can see the massive benefits in taking routine tasks off your plate and letting a robot do most of the work.

If you want to try it out, here’s what you do:

So let’s just say I’m in the 2/3 of folks that wanted to conduct the Turing test on her. I did and she quickly deferred her questions to Master Jeff, lol. The first thing I did was test her security features. Check. No sensitive personal information was given out outside of scheduling and the penetration was unsuccessful. I was surprised, however, that she couldn’t recap the dates proposed to me in a single email… I see the future, @disqus_I1QOrxs06A:disqus, and this is too ripe, even by 2007 standards. Not looking for Skynet or even Siri but certainly something a little more sophisticated than basic logic. @jeffhilimire:disqus what are some other alternatives you looked at before you started dating Amy?
