We’re doing some exciting things at Dragon Army these days

Contuining my week of Dragon Army posts (Monday: vision, tenets, values; Tuesday: what kind of company we are, Wednesday: our focus on mobile), I thought I’d share some of the things we’re working on these days.

Little Broken Robots (LBR)

First off, as our fourth game, this was by far our most successful. LBR was featured in the Apple AppStore in January, and then listed as one of 20 “Best of January” games in February. And get this, over 50,000 games were uploaded into the AppStore in January! So we were thrilled with that.

We’re currently working on a massive update to the game, and we’re exploring a kids version of Little Broken Robots.

Client work

Unfortunately I can’t yet share who some of the clients are, but I thought I’d share the types of things we’re working on:

Mobile strategy and research: An area that we love to start with clients is on the mobile strategy side. Helping companies map out their mobile roadmap and put together a thoughtful plan around it is something that we believe is overlooked at most businesses. Most of our projects start off with this phase, and we do have some clients we work with exclusively in this consultative type of relationship. And our proprietary strategic method, Applied Game Theory, allows us to explore mobile in an altogether new way.

Apps: most of what we build for clients are mobile apps. Some of them are for external marketing purposes, some for functional executions that help a company deliver their service, and some are for internal use for a company’s workforce. We also sometimes help startups launch their mobile apps, the most recent being an iOS app called TripFiles.

Retail: We’re working in several industries right now on retail mobile executions. Whether it’s helping customers move through a retail location, or creating interactive digital displays for kids to use while their parents wait for food at a restaurant, the opportunity to use mobile to help businesses in a retail environment are vast. Similarly, last year we built a kiosk touchscreen experience for Zoo Atlanta’s new reptile exhibit. I think this is going to be an area that we continue to see a lot of growth in as we go forward.

Stadiums: Yes, stadiums, with an s! We’re finding that our ability to concept and execute mobile experiences has put us in a position to work with stadiums as they focus on bringing state-of-the-art technology to their customers.

Virtual reality and emerging tech: We have a few VR projects we’ve been able to work on, and so far they’ve been for internal or sales use within an organization. We also are asked by clients to explore other emerging technology in the mobile space, and that’s where the studio side of our company can really help.

Games: Games are obviously a huge passion point for us, and we still find ourselves working with clients on mobile game opportunities. Again, I can’t disclose this yet but we’re working with a few companies right now on game ideas that we’re very excited about.

So yeah, we’re busy (and loving it!)
