On the last day of Google Reader’s life, do this!

We’re all trying to figure out what RSS reader we’re going to be use now that Google Reader is going away tomorrow. I’m using Feedly currently, though not loving it, and I find myself using Flipboard more and more (and recently I’ve tried the new Digg Reader). So far nothing has replaced Reader for me (though I have to remember to try Reeder’s import feature, that has promise as it was my favorite Google Reader…reader).

At least Google has made it extremely easy to make a backup of your feeds so that you can import them to any new service. Google Takeout is an easy process of archiving data from any of your Google services. After you’re done, it curiously doesn’t let you upload the .zip file to your Google Drive account, but I’d recommend that just for safe keeping.

If you’ve found something better than Feedly, please let me know!

I think Reeder is going to use the Feedly backend to stay running. I am going to miss Reader Reader, the OG version (Original Google).

There isn’t an Android version of Reeder though, is there?

no android version – but gReader is another Feedly partner to use their same back end synchronizer/feed handler.

right now the only proof i have of feedly now using its own back end is that my feeds no longer stay in sych between google reader and feedly

feedly has a roadmap of upcoming features and how its userbase has voted and helped prioritize:https://feedly.uservoice.com/

Nice, though I almost exclusively consume my RSS feeds on a mobile device…
