Evernote and LinkedIn need to get together

Seeing as how last year I suggested (along with a million other people I’m sure) that Evernote create a Reminders option and they finally did that recently, I thought I’d throw out another recommendation.

There needs to be an ability in Evernote to connect contacts to your notes. I try to make sure I “attach” a contact’s name to every note that involved a meeting or discussion with someone so that when I search for that person’s name I can see my latest substantial communication with them. And by “attach” I simply mean making sure the person’s name is in the note.   But its a manual process and it seems it would be simple for this feature to be added.

I would imagine the best way to do this would be to connect Evernote with LinkedIn so you could attach contacts straight from LinkedIn into your notes. That way if you chose a person in Evernote you could see all the notes that they were connected to, and if you opened up a note you’d see all the contacts associated with it.

What else would you like to see Evernote add?

If it was to link up with contacts and reminders, a calendar feature seems like it would be a solid next step.

They kind of do have calendar integration, like when you start to create a note it pulls in your current calendar (if you’ve connected it) and puts that as the title of the note. What are you thinking in terms of calendar features?

I would like to see the ability to create multiple tasks with in a note. When taking notes in a meeting i could end up with more than one task during that meeting. How do i decide which task to use as the reminder? The reason I am still stuck on One Note is because One Note’s tight integration with Outlook and the ability to create multiple tasks within a note. BTW One Note also has the ability to add contacts into your notes.

It would be cool to be able to tag events in Outlook like I could in Instagram. That way, if I am having a meeting about “project x,” the meeting invite on the calendar would automatically link up any notes tagged with that project.

Granted I could do 2/3 of that without a calendar integration and just being smart in the way I use tags…

Do you use IFTTT to link up Evernote and your calendar? Or does Evernote do that on its own?

Dude that’s a great idea. It’s kinda like Google Now + Evernote, which is an awesome idea.

So the way I do that is create checkboxes within a note, and then maybe that note have a reminder. So I try not to have notes in Evernote that are ONLY to-do’s, but instead have a note that I put checkboxes in that are the to-do’s and the rest of the note is the context. Then as I go through and review my reminders, I check off the checkboxes in the note until they’re all checked, then I mark that reminder as completed.

    Does that make sense?

Yes that makes sense. I think the issue is that I have not just thrown myself into Evernote. I have been using OneNote for so long that its hard for me to make the conversion. I just just need to stat using Evernote explicitly and see where that takes me. Thanks Jeff.
