Spend a day with a startup

I talk a lot about entrepreneurship, passion, and being inspired.  And recently I wrote about how to be an entrepreneur with a job.  In fact, if you look at my Mantras page, you’ll see a lot of these topics.

One of the reasons I write about this stuff is because I have the great opportunity to get to spend time with entrepreneurs and startups.  It’s why I attend events like Startup Riot.  And when I do, I always find myself inspired and invigorated.  There’s just something about the passion and focus that an entrepreneur has thats infectious.

This past Friday and Saturday I had such an opportunity.  I am working to help a startup get off the ground, both with my time and some funding (more to come on this as we get closer to launch — needless to say I’m geeked up about this particular startup).  We spent time going over the structure of the product, the work that needed to get completed, the vision (which for this particular company is what excites me the most), etc.

I’m telling you there’s nothing like it.  And I think sometimes I talk about startups and entrepreneurship and perhaps some people don’t quite get the point.  Or feel that its a world so far removed from what they can actually experience that its not relevant to them.  And as we were brainstorming this past weekend I realized that not many people have had the opportunity to do this.

If anyone wants to take a day or a half day to spend at a startup, let me know and I’ll try to help set that up. I think it will do wonders for exciting you about your current job and what you can do to change it for the better, or maybe getting some work done on that side project or idea you’ve had for years.  I promise at the very least it will awaken something in you and trigger a change in how you approach your work.  It always does for me.

Happy to help you spend a day with a startup JK.  What kind of things are you interested in seeing?
