Another reason why I love Evernote – connected TV integration!

I’m currently working on my “Products I loved in 2010” post, an update from last year’s products I loved post, and I keep coming back to Evernote as one of my favorite products.  You also might recall earlier this year I had two guest bloggers write about why they love Evernote (thanks again @thinkbanq and @RandyArrowood – let me know if you’re both still huge fans of Evernote!).

A recent article in Mashable showed that Evernote is doing very well in terms of revenue and growth, which is great to hear.  The company is hitting $10 million in revenue annually and growing extensively outside of the US.  I also love the fact that they have an open API to allow developers to play with their technology and integrate it into their products. We’re exploring that at Engauge actually.

But the coolest thing they are looking at is the integration of their service with connected TVs.  If you use Evernote the way I do, seeing something you are interested in and plopping it into Evernote to read or get to later, making notes about things on the fly, then you’ll also be able to appreciate how great it will be to have Evernote connected to your TV.  See an ad for a vacation you want to explore later?  Click, add it to Evernote.  Watching a chef prepare a meal that you want to make later?  Click, add the video to Evernote.

And advertisers are going to LOVE this ability, obviously.

Anyways, as I work on the products I love post I just had to quickly throw this out about Evernote.  A great company getting even greater.

Honestly, I don’t know how I survived w/o it. I’ve always carried a sketch notebook for ideas, but as you know organization was seriously lacking. I’ve used Evernote on my iPod touch at the gym, iPhone couch, car & plane. The only place that I haven’t used Evernote is in the shower.

I wish it had an automatic mind mapper built in b/c I honeslty don’t remember where I come up with half the things I Evernote (can we use it as as verb yet?)

This is a great development. It’s got me thinking about how smartphone videos and YouTube could be integrated with Evernote. Add a QR reader to the phone app to help automate the connection and aggregation of content/notes. There’s still so much that can be done.

Yes, evernote should be a verb, definitely! Also, I agree on the mind map integration, that would be great, but I’ve been using LiveScribe a lot lately and it has a nice integration with Evernote.

Hello Jeff. This is Ron from Evernote. I came across your post and just wanted to drop in and say thanks for all the support. It’s great to hear Evernote has been such a useful product for you this year, and also that you are as excited about the future of Evernote as we are. Thanks again.

Yep, still rely heavily on it for the minutiae of details around the site I’m building. Used properly it’s like having a virtual office staff (I love to hear/see myself think).

Not surprised the biz is doing so well. They seem very proactive and receptive to user input and feedback.
