Rediscovering Bittersweet Me by R.E.M.

I’m a huge R.E.M. fan as you probably know.  Named my blog after my favorite R.E.M. song actually (affiliate link – Being the Begin).

Lately I’ve been rediscovering Bittersweet Me (affiliate).  Awesome song.  It’s on New Adventures in Hifi which is probably why I don’t listen about it enough.  I added Bittersweet Me to my R.E.M. top 10 list on Rank ’em, which changes all the time (it’s tough with such a great band to find 10 songs to single out).

Blurg.  I tried posting the video here (which was the whole point so people could listen) but for some reason every place I found the music video had disabled embedding for this song.  Perhaps Warner Bros. isn’t allowing.

So here’s the link to youtube if you have the energy for one more click.  Blurg.

that is where we differ my friend. I just don’t get their sound. Emo whining meets out of tune vocals and poorly played instruments. Other than that they sound good

First of all, “New Adventures” is an underrated album, although I think they mostly went downhill after that.

Second, Damian Kulash of OK Go talked about the self-defeating practice of disabling embedding on videos in a NYT op-ed back in February: https://www.nytimes.com/2010/02/20/opinion/20kulash.html. These folks at the labels just don’t get the Web.

Agreed, New Adventures is underrated. Double agree, the labels just don’t get it when it comes to web rights. Duh-umb.
