Two quick and funny things you should read

I’ve read two things in the last week that I thought were well written and pretty funny.  The first was the foreword of Sarah Silverman’s book, “The Bedwetter”.  I happened to read the foreword for free by getting the iBook (or you can get the Kindle) free sample.

You can buy the book on Amazon of course, and though I have only read the foreword so far, it seems to have some great potential.  But at this point I’m just recommending the foreword.  She writes it herself and its extremely funny.

Because this is a family friendly blog (most of the time), rather than pull in one of Sarah’s youtube videos I thought I’d just link to them, that way I’m only guilty by association.

The second thing I really enjoyed was the article in the April issue of GQ entitled, “Dear Steve Jobs”.  It’s the Open Letter piece at the end of the magazine.

My favorite quote, “Part of the problem, of course, is that you and your army of innovation-cobbling elves have set an impossibly high standard, not just technologically but culturally.  The iPod transformed the way we enjoyed illegally downloaded music.  The iPhone revolutionized the way we ignore the people we claim to love (Thanks, Bejeweled Blitz! Sorry, family!)“.  Ah, how true.

Unfortunately GQ seems to put most of their content on the web but selectively leaves random articles out, like this one.  I would think if they were going to make anything viewable on the web they’d make the one-page, end of magazine article accessible but I guess that’s asking too much.  Of course there’s always the chance I’m completely missing it, but you tell me.

So that’s a disappointment, I was hoping to be able to link to the Silverman foreword since its free on iBook and Kindle, but alas I can’t find that, and now I can’t find the GQ article.  So either you’ll have to do some work to read these two things or else I just wasted about 3 minutes of your time.

Meh.
