Grit is the #1 indicator of future success
I’ve heard it said that ‘grit’ is the #1 indicator of future success many times, most recently at a talk given by Jesse Itzler. And I have a hard time debating it.
Sure, I’ve talked in the past about the importance of focus, the power of passion, and the need to get super organized if you want to achieve your goals. But by and large, I can’t see anything that would surpass grit as a “must have” for success.
Every successful person I’ve ever met – in any area – has shown a never-quit work ethic that propelled them to their success. There’s just no substitute for it.
But, I’ll counter-point myself by saying that I don’t believe grit is the recipe for success on its own. There are so many other factors that need to be present for someone to be successful. Hard-work alone is not the answer, and in some cases can lead someone to miss opportunities for change that are necessary for survival and success.
That said, if someone isn’t a hard-working, push through pain type of person, my bet would be they won’t find themselves hitting the level of success they desire.
