Advocating for impatience

“I think you have one time around and I don’t know what’s going to be in existence in six months or a year, so I think that you’re here on Earth to make some kind of contribution of some kind. I’m impatient, I suppose I wish everybody would be impatient.”

~ Bobby Kennedy

This is definitely the mode I feel like I’m in at this point. While I hope I’m only 1/3 through my life (well, I suppose it might not be awesome to be alive at the age of 126,) I’m certainly aware that time is becoming more and more precious. And how I spend my time is the biggest indicator of how successful I will be.

The question we should all then be asking is, what is ‘success’ for each of us? For me, its being the best husband and father that I can be, and having an out-sized, positive impact on the world through my businesses and supporting nonprofits.

As Bobby puts it, we should all be in impatient. Impatience drives action. Impatience drives results.

I just don’t think we’re on this Earth to be passive, and simply react only when we are forced to…do you?

PS ~ If you’re interested in learning more about Bobby, I’d recommend the book Bobby Kennedy: The Making of a Liberal Icon. Reading about Bobby, something I’ve been doing A LOT of, has helped me see more clearly the person that I want to become.
