The only way to succeed is to suffer
I wrote recently about the power of adaptation, a concept I got from the book, Running Man. Another concept the author, Charlie Engle, talks about is the need for suffering to truly succeed. And if you read his book, you’ll no doubt see that this dude needed to suffer. In fact, his ability to suffer is ridiculous.
Anything I’ve ever done in life where I’ve been successful, suffering was part of the journey. Be it my time playing tennis (from age 12 – college,) starting and building Spunlogic, hanging in there with Engauge, and even the first three years of Dragon Army, all have come with various amounts and degrees of “suffering”. The hard times, the big mistakes, the painful realities.
When I’m working hard on something and things get bad, I tell myself (and those in it with me) that this is all part of the process. That to be successful at anything, you have to go through difficult times and push through them, and that there is light at the end of the tunnel. I’ve alway seen hard work and determination be rewarded in the end.
So if you’re suffering right now, remember, its the only way to achieve anything important. Push through, keep your head up, and persevere.
Really needed this. Thanks!
