To be an entrepreneur, your convictions must be marrow deep

I heard the term “marrow deep” for the first time recently. I can’t remember if it was a podcast or an audio book, but the meaning of that phrase really hit me. To me if you were to say that someone held a conviction marrow deep, that would mean they believe it to their very core, in an unshakable, unbreakable way.

At the toughest times in my entrepreneurial journey, friends and colleagues have raised the question of whether or not it was time to quit. There was no way that was going to happen, because I believed…no, I KNEW, that we were going to find a way to make it.

The most successful entrepreneurs (of which I do not include myself, I’m talking about the big guys…Gates, Jobs, Musk, etc.) have a conviction and belief in themselves and their company that is so strong, nothing can deter them. And they risk everything to pursue that conviction.

It takes that never-lose-faith mentality to be a successful entrepreneur. Because the odds are against you when you start a company. In a scary kinda way, actually. You’re almost definitely going to fail, if you’re someone that believes in statistics. So then why do it in the first place? Hopefully, because you believe in yourself and your idea/company so strongly that nothing can stop you.
