How to build a great culture, from the troops (Part 2)

Recap: I wrote a post entitled, How to build a great culture, from the troops, where I explain that I interviewed some past employees to find out what they thought made our culture great at Spunlogic and/or Engauge. I’m sharing their responses over a few posts in the hopes that you can learn from them the way I have:

Response 3

I felt like I was contributing to something greater than myself. My efforts directly related to the growth and success of Spunlogic. So when Spunlogic had a victory as a team, I felt team pride. But this didn’t have to be because of my actions…just that I was made to feel like I was an integral part of the team and thus I had an emotional connection.
Feeling part of the team was a result of knowing my voice was heard when coming up with ideas, helping solve problems, etc.

But…culture….the atmosphere was laid back and people were genuine. There wasn’t a pompous or egotistical atmosphere like at some agencies. OR that people were trying to act a certain way…those who were fake tended to be ostracized or self-selected out. Obviously not everyone was a fit.

Now…contrast this with other agencies where people can be jerks or are protecting their job titles, etc. This is the complete opposite of Spunlogic. There were no egos at Spunlogic. People could be themselves, there were no judgements…just everyone working toward the same goal of making it great.

Response 4

I felt like the leadership (you, Danny, Raj, Raghu) of the agency was always transparent with the employees and treated us as equals. You guys were the glue that created a great atmosphere to work in and you guys didn’t tolerate any political games that you often find in agency atmospheres.
