Winning the MAX Awards

Wow, humbled doesn’t begin to describe the way I feel right now. This morning, only a few hours ago, Dragon Army was awarded the grand prize of the MAX Awards, the annual Marketing Awards for Excellence. We won for the campaign we ran last year with Arby’s in our game, Robots Love Ice Cream.

I’ve dreamed of winning a MAX Award since I was about 25 years old, when my first company, Spunlogic, built the website for the event. I’d sit in the crowd and be amazed at the type of work companies in Atlanta were doing and think, “One day, one day.”

And today was that day! This decision by our peers to choose us as the most innovative marketing company in Atlanta in 2014 showed me several things. First, that we have a GREAT team. Great. We also have great partners, like Arby’s, who are willing to try new things and trust us to take their brand into new forms of media.

But more than anything, it shows me that we are on the right course. We believe there are so many new areas to explore in mobile (including apps, gaming, and everything in between), and that we’re just scratching the surface. The number of people that played our game and then went into an Arby’s to try their new shake (over 65,000) showed us that!

You can tell by the smile on my face below, winning this award was one of the highlights of my career!
