I’m a big Dropbox fan, as you’ve probably read before. Love the service and at this point in time its light years better than iCloud. Maybe Google Drive will give it a run for its money as it matures.
Yesterday I received an email from Dropbox that said if I use their service to store the photos and video from my phone (rather than or in conjunction with iPhoto), they’d give me an extra 3GB of storage. So I did. And they did.
Extremely smart marketing. For me, it’s a win-win. I get the photos from my phone backed up and an extra 3GB of storage. For Dropbox, they’ve now created a more loyal customer because more of my data is stored with them, plus they’ve given me something “for free” which build additional loyalty.
