IHG + Gowalla = killer campaign

I thought I’d share some recent press that the campaign Engauge is running with IHG and Gowalla is getting.  While I’m always hesitant to promote too much of the work we do in the Engauge DIG group on this blog, I do want to share this campaign as I think its an example of a great way to use these check-in systems to actually drive revenue (in this case, reservations).

While we can’t share the results just yet, I can tell you we’re seeing extremely positive conversion and usage rates.

    JH – I'm on vacation, so the article was too long to read completely, but what is IHG's benefit to offering check-in on Gowalla?

    Mostly exposure for the Hit it Big promotion they are running. To get the reward, you have to stay at an IHG hotel twice in a certain amount of time. So the Gowalla campaign informs people that are “checking in” at an IHG hotel about Hit it Big and lets them sign up in the app for the promotion.

    There are also some items you get in Gowalla and there's certainly a brand impression that's powerful as so few companies have integrated with Gowalla specifically, so there's benefit there.
