A rant about the “I don’t have time to use Twitter/Facebook/etc.” people.

Disclaimer: This is a rant.  I’ll probably regret it after I write it, but its time for a rant.

Tired of all those people who say they “don’t have time to try <insert new media/technology here>”?  I can’t tell you how many times I talk to people about something new and they come back with “I don’t have time to do that”.  Riiiighhhtt. I’m sorry Mr. I Work Way Harder Than You If You Have Time To Do That.  Must be tough having your unbelievably hectic schedule.

Let’s be honest, what people are really saying is that they don’t want to spend time on that particular thing.  They aren’t interested in it more than some of the other things they’re doing.  They aren’t interested in learning something new.

They’re also saying that they work a lot harder than you do.  Some of the people I know that work like maniacs are still somehow able to try out new technologies.

So the next time you ask someone to try something like Twitter and they say, “I don’t have time for that”, just say, “Yeah, I know, my life has nothing going on which is why I can f&$# around on Twitter all day and day dream and doodle on a pad and watch reruns of Friends and stare out the window all day.”

Yeah I’m in a rant kind of mood myself. I’ve been dealing with twitter skeptics up to my ears and Facebook fear mongers. Let’s face it people this is the future, get on board.
And the other post about advertising on these networks is beautifully said. Please don’t try to bring archaic sales techniques into “social” media, be real!
I feel better already – thanks for the pick-me-up!
